In a significant step towards strengthening industry–academia collaboration and enhancing employability opportunities for engineering students, B K Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology, Pilani signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Secure Meters Limited at the company’s corporate office located at Secure Meters Limited Corporate Office on 06 March 2026. The MoU aims to promote meaningful collaboration between the institute and the industry in areas such as student internships, industrial training, expert lectures, live industry projects, research collaboration, and enhanced placement opportunities for engineering graduates.
The MoU was formally signed in the presence of senior officials from both sides. The delegation from the institute included Prof. Bijay Kumar Rout (Director), Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma (Principal), Dr. Santosh Jangid (HOD – ECE & VLSI Design), Mr. Pradeep Singh Shekhawat (Deputy HOD – Computer Science Department), and Mr. Reetesh Gautam (Training & Placement Officer).
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Bijay Kumar Rout, Director, stated that industry partnerships are essential for bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world technological applications. He emphasized that the collaboration with Secure Meters Limited would provide students with valuable exposure to modern industrial practices and emerging technologies. Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, Principal, expressed that the institute has always focused on creating strong linkages with leading industries. He remarked that this MoU would open new avenues for practical learning, skill development, and research opportunities, Mr. Reetesh Gautam, Training & Placement Officer, highlighted that such collaborations play a crucial role in strengthening the institute’s Training & Placement initiatives. He noted that the partnership would facilitate structured industrial training, industry mentorship, and enhanced placement prospects for students, enabling them to develop industry-ready skills.
Officials from Secure Meters Limited also welcomed the collaboration and expressed their commitment to supporting academic institutions in nurturing future-ready engineering professionals. The MoU is expected to significantly benefit students by providing them with greater exposure to industry practices, technical expertise, and professional guidance, thereby contributing to their overall career development.
