Expert Talk on Vision for Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence
B K Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET), Pilani, through its Research, Consultancy, MoUs and Industrial Interaction Committee, organized an Expert Talk on “Vision for Centre of Excellence on Electric Vehicle (EV)” on 17-1-2026
The session aimed to highlight emerging opportunities in the Electric Vehicle domain and to outline a strategic roadmap for establishing an Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the institute. The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, researchers, and students.
The program was graced by Prof. B. K. Rout, Director, BKBIET Pilani, and Dr. Anil Sharma, Principal, BKBIET Pilani, along with Heads of Departments, PIC’S and faculty members of BKBIET PILANI, BTTI (ITI) & BTTI(DIPLOMA)
Dr. Rajesh Singh Shekhawat outlined the objectives and vision of the EV initiative, emphasizing the need for a dedicated Centre of Excellence. Dr. Nishant Kumar explained the expert involvement and structured workshop schedule designed to integrate theory with practice. Mr. Amit Kumar highlighted the future scope of Electric Vehicles and the importance of skill development and collaboration, while Mr. Sunil Kumar shared insights from industrial visits, stressing their role in practical learning and industry exposure.
The session also reflected on the outcomes of an EV-focused workshop conducted earlier at BITS Pilani, underscoring the importance of academic–industry synergy in sustainable mobility education.
Prof. B. K. Rout, Director, BKBIET Pilani, in his address, stated that such expert talks play a vital role in strengthening the culture of research and innovation within the institution. He emphasized that the Electric Vehicle sector forms the foundation of future sustainable transportation and highlighted the need for strong academia–industry collaboration.
Dr. Anil Sharma, Principal, BKBIET Pilani, described the expert talk as highly relevant, noting that such programs connect faculty members and students with emerging technologies and encourage practical as well as research-oriented learning.
The event was efficiently coordinated by Mrs. Ruchi Sharma, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, and Dr. Manoj Bhatt, under the guidance of Dr. Smita Pareek, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department and Professor-in-Charge of the Research Committee.
The successful organization of the expert talk reaffirmed BKBIET’s strong commitment to fostering a vibrant, research-driven academic environment, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthening faculty research capabilities, and promoting engagement with emerging technologies for the benefit of the broader technical community. The Research & Consultancy Committee (BKBIET-PILANI) actively promotes research and innovation by organizing expert talks, workshops, and academic interactions, thereby strengthening faculty research orientation and fostering meaningful academia–industry engagement.
