BKBIET Celebrates 11th International Yoga Day with Enthusiastic Participation

To mark the spirit of health and harmony, the Yoga & Health Club in collaboration with the Department of Applied Science and Humanitiescelebrated the 11th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2025. The event took place in the early morning hours at the Workshop Lawn of the institute and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 80 faculty members, students, and staff.

The session commenced at 5:30 AM with a warm welcome, followed by a guided yoga session led by Yogacharya Priyanka Aggarwal from BITS Pilani. Participants engaged in various asanas and pranayama practices. Yogacharya Aggarwal emphasized the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to enhance mental clarity, physical wellness, and emotional balance.

Following the yoga session, participants gathered in the BPTRC Hall from 6:30 AM to 7:10 AM to listen to the address by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who spoke on the importance of yoga in fostering unity and collective well-being.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Krishna Meel along with Ms. Suman Garg and Ms. Harshita Samota, under the guidance of Dr. Y.K. Gupta, Head of the Department of Applied Science and Humanities. Student coordinators for the event were Mr. Vansh and Ms. Rachna.

Prof. Bijay Kumar Rout, Director of BKBIET, addressed the gathering and underscored the scientific relevance of yoga in managing stress, enhancing mental focus, and promoting holistic development. He also reiterated the Prime Minister’s message, highlighting how yoga shifts our perspective from “me” to “we”, fostering a sense of compassion and unity.

The event concluded with an inspiring address by Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, Principal of the institute, who reflected on this year’s theme — “Yoga for Self and Society”. He emphasized the role of yoga in promoting individual well-being and community harmony within the campus.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks and a collective resolution by all attendees to adopt yoga as a regular practice, resonating with the global message of health, peace, and unity.
