The Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) at B.K. Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology (BKBIET), Pilani, successfully organized a One-Week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 21st to 26th July 2025 on the theme “Enhancing Communication Skills for Better Classroom Teaching”, under the ‘Train the Trainer’ initiative.
The FDP was designed to equip faculty members with effective communication strategies essential for delivering engaging classroom sessions, encouraging student participation, and improving overall teaching-learning outcomes.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Manusmriti Sharma, Professor-In-Charge, TLC, under the continuous encouragement and mentorship of Prof. B. K. Rout, Director, B. K. Birla Group of Institutions, and Prof. Anil Kumar Sharma, Principal, BKBIET.
Over six days, 20 faculty members from various departments participated in expert-led sessions that focused on key aspects such as verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, classroom interaction, presentation techniques, and student engagement strategies. The sessions were delivered through a blend of interactive lectures, group activities, hands-on communication exercises, and peer feedback, making the program both insightful and practice-oriented.
The valedictory session held on 26th July 2025 was graced by Prof. Sangeeta Sharma, Head, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS Pilani, as the Chief Guest. In her inspiring address, Prof. Sharma highlighted the transformative power of communication in effective teaching and emphasized the educator’s role in fostering inclusive, learner-centered classrooms.
Participants shared their reflections during the concluding session, appreciating the practical and engaging nature of the program. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks and the distribution of certificates to all participants.
This FDP marked yet another milestone in BKBIET’s ongoing commitment to faculty development and academic excellence.
