Expert Talk on the Evolution of Artificial Intelligence
B K Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET), Pilani, organized an insightful expert talk on “The Evolution of Artificial Intelligence: From Rule-Based Systems to Agentic Intelligence” coordinated by Digital Media Cell and Department of Applied Science and Humanities. The session witnessed the active participation of nearly 75 students from M. Tech and B. Tech programs, reflecting strong interest in emerging technologies and future-driven domains.
The expert speaker Mr Naveen Kumar Sharma, an alumnus of B K Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology, Pilani; a Gold Medalist of Rajasthan Technical University of batch 2015-19; and Senior Associate Consultant, Infosys Ltd took the audience through the fascinating journey of Artificial Intelligence, beginning with traditional rule-based systems and progressing to the current era of agentic intelligence. Students gained insights into critical milestones such as the rise of machine learning, neural networks, and generative AI, as well as the emergence of autonomous AI agents capable of planning, reasoning, and performing tasks independently. The talk also highlighted real-world applications, ethical considerations, and the rapidly expanding opportunities in the AI ecosystem.
Students engaged actively throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions and expressing curiosity about the transformative role of AI in industry and research. The talk significantly enhanced their understanding of modern AI technologies and inspired many to explore advanced domains within the field.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. B. K. Rout (Director) Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma (Principal) Dr. Nimish Kumar (PIC Academics) and Dr. Y. K. Gupta (Head of the Department, Applied Science and Humanities). Their leadership ensured that the program aligned with the institute’s vision of providing students with exposure to cutting-edge developments in the field of AI.
Coordinated by Mr. Sanjeev Sultania from the Digital Media Cell and Department of Applied Science and Humanities, the session was smoothly organized with support from faculty members and student volunteers. Faculty attendees included Mr. Gauttam Jangir, along with teaching assistants Mr. Sankalp, Ms. Renu, Ms. Sangeeta and other staff members. A dedicated team of student coordinators including Mr. Vihaan, Mr. Amitesh, Mr. Sameer, Ms. Manjeet, Ms. Esha, Mr. Yash, Mr. Akash have efficiently managed registration, logistics, and on-ground arrangements, contributing to the overall success of the event.
