A one-day workshop on Cyber Security was organized on January 25, 2026, at B K Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET), Pilani. The event was organized under the guidance of Convener Dr. Nimish Kumar, Head of the Computer Science & Engineering department, and coordinated by Mr. Himanshu Verma, Assistant Professor in the same department.
The workshop was primarily attended by students from Computer Science & Engineering and other related technical branches, with more than 100 participants actively taking part. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance, challenges, and practical aspects of cyber security in today’s digital era. The key speakers, Mr. Siddharth Singh from Appflayer, Jaipur, and Mr. Dheeraj Madhukar, a cyber security expert, shared valuable insights into the pros and cons of the digital world. They demonstrated how security tools can be used effectively, as well as how they can be misused if not handled responsibly. The speakers emphasized that data security is extremely critical in the modern age, and even small mistakes or negligence can lead to serious consequences.
During the event, the Director, Prof. B.K. Rout, highlighted that such workshops are the “need of the hour” due to the increasing cases of cybercrime. The Principal, Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, also emphasized that organizing such sessions helps in aligning students’ skills with current industry demands. Overall, the workshop proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the participants, enhancing their understanding of cyber security and its real-world applications.
